Carpeta de prensa
Washington, DC has two important elections this year, and both matter. Voting is one of the most direct ways residents can show up for their city, their neighbors, and their shared future.

The Democratic Primary will be held on Tuesday, June 16, 2026. In DC, the Democratic primary is often the most consequential election, as it determines which candidates advance to the General Election on Tuesday, November 3, 2026.

Washington, D.C., now uses ranked choice voting, which allows voters to rank candidates in order of preference. If no candidate earns a majority of first-choice votes, the lowest-ranked candidate is eliminated, and those votes are redistributed until one candidate reaches a majority. We encourage voters to rank Kevin Chavous first for DC Council At-Large and spread the word to your neighbors!

Participating in every election matters. Voters are encouraged to make a plan by checking their registration, finding their polling place, and marking these election dates on your calendar.
